The Best Tower Defense Games for PC
Strategy video games offer many interesting mechanics, so they’re not all the same. In this respect, we’d like to highlight the Tower Defense games, which use a unique system very particular to this sub-genre.
What are Tower Defense games? They are mainly characterized by their focus on the more defensive aspect of combat. The aim is to defeat waves of enemies by constructing or installing buildings such as towers, catapults, or traps. You can play the best Tower Defense games for PC that we recommend in these lines.
Now that you know what they’re all about, you’ll remember titles like Plants vs. Zombies or CastleStorm. These are references in the genre that may seem simple, but have a deeper gameplay. It’s true that you can take elements of role-playing, and action games and above all combine turn-based strategy with real-time combat. Players have an initial time to prepare their defense until the first wave arrives. Difficulty increases with each turn, but it’s important to collect money and other resources to upgrade structures.
Toy Soldiers Games
Of course, we can’t just let it slip into one of the other Tower Defense games that you can play. We will include our games first because we’re confident enough in our skills to make the best possible game experience for our players. Toy Soldiers games are a blend of both War and Tower defense, simple to play, allowing all of the players including the low-end specs players to enjoy unique gameplay.
Toy Soldiers
A strategy game in which we’ll control the former toy soldiers of the First World War, being able to deploy a wide arsenal, such as tanks, snipers, cavalry, biplanes, flamethrowers and dioramas of the First Great War of our toy armies.
Toy Soldiers: War Chest
This is the third installment in the series, offering a combination of action and strategy mixed with tower-based defense mechanisms.
This installment will feature the introduction of a host of new features in the form of more heroes, missions, and armies than in any previous episode, in addition to various new features such as new turrets, more fire barriers, new modes, and a renewed multiplayer mode for both competitive and cooperative play.
Toy Soldiers HD
The original classic version has been revised and updated with new content, aspects, gameplay, expanded game modes, improved controls, and graphical enhancements. We’ve also included all the original downloadable content and some new levels.
These are the only versions of our games that are supported by PC. You can play and enjoy other versions of the series on consoles. Of course, we’ll have plenty of other tower defense games for computers that we suggest from the list below.
Toy Soldiers 2: Finest Hour
Although the game has not yet been released, it follows the premise of the original “Toy Soldiers” game, offering players the chance to command toy armies in epic battles set in the parameters of World War II.
Plants vs. Zombies: The Battle of Neighborville
Also known as Plants vs. Zombies The Battle of Neighborvill, is an action shooter developed by PopCap and distributed by Electronic Arts. Like the other installments of Plants vs. Zombies Modern Warfare, this one focuses on the war between plants and zombies. In this case, clashes take place in 3 new zones, 7 familiar maps and 6 exclusive ones.
This delivery has plenty of options for customizing characters for battle, and earning game coins to spend in the store. But it also has plenty of modes with different conditions, where cooperative multiplayer stands out, allowing 8 vs. 8-player confrontations. This makes it a great option for enjoying fun-filled battles with friends.
Dungeon Of The Endless
An action-roguelike developed by Amplitud Estudios and distributed by Sega. The story takes place in the distant future, when a prison located in a spaceship crashes on a very special planet, after which the survivors seek to escape from its capsule exporting an energy crystal to various floors of the ship. Along the way, you’ll come across various hostile creatures that you’ll need to eliminate to advance.
This unique roguelike combines the best of dungeons with tower defense. The scenario is procedurally generated in a certain way, so that each game develops differently. This feature can transform the environment into a deadly maze to achieve the goal: of guiding survivors to the ship to escape an alien planet.
The game has a stylized cartoon feel, and players can choose from a range of characters. Up to 4 players can take part in cooperative multiplayer to protect the crystals of Eternia that want to be destroyed by goblins, orcs, kobolds, ogres, or wyverns. You can then use each character’s special abilities, as well as build defenses to prevent their advance.
Rock of Ages III: Make & Break
Developed by ACE Team, Rock of Ages III: Make & Break is a tower defense action game. The game features a competitive mode, in which you build your defenses and, incidentally, try to destroy your opponent’s defenses. In online mode, up to 4 players can play, while locally it’s limited to 2. As for the Arcade action mode, it’s played alone and you have to crush with a giant boulder everything you find in your path. But that’s not all: there are many more game modes. What’s more, if you wish, you can create your own levels.
An extremely fun and sometimes absurd game, but well worth it for its gameplay. It has a complete level editor for making your own circuits and scenarios have an aerial view. Numerous structures can be placed as towers, walls, battering rams, or catapults to defeat waves of enemies, but there are also levels to lead a giant ball of destruction.
The second installment in the popular Tower Defense series has two highly differentiated phases: one of exploration of the scene and another of fighting waves of enemies. The first is developed on a map with an isometric view, where the hero can move around with action points. The second is the fun part of putting up defenses, recruiting other characters, and using your ranged or melee skills. The choice is yours!

The aim is to create facilities capable of attracting large numbers of happy people through the use, for example, of robotic workers and defensive turrets.
They Are Billions
After going through Advance Access with remarkable success, They Are Billions faced their litmus test and passed it with flying colors. It’s true that the campaign can’t bear the lure of stretching a slightly more limited formula than an RTS needs to last so many hours.
Warpips
Warpips is a complex but fast-learning real-time video game. The production promises to test the player and deploy the right combination of soldiers, tanks, helicopters, and planes. “If Command & Conquer and Nexus Wars had a son full of tanks and napalm, it would be Warpips!”

Sanctum 2
After a rather appealing first game, but something unnoticed happened, Coffee Stain Studios brings us a sequel that improves in virtually every facet of its predecessor. Empires in Ruins
Empires in Ruins is a strategy adventure with plenty of dark homor that seeks to combine empire management and tower defense in the same video game.
Earthfall
It’s often difficult to construct an evaluation of a video game and explain in a few lines the conclusions it offers. In the case of Earthfall, it’s easy: It’s not too much fun. Simple as that. The performance issues and occasional bugs are there, and they’re annoying for sure, but that’s the basis that makes this shooter tedious and rather uninteresting.
Ark of Charon
Ark of Charon seeks to offer a unique experience where mechanical video game colony simulation and tower defense adventures are blended. In Ark of Charon, the Sacred Tree of the World has withered and with it humanity, “now that a new progeny has sprouted, you must become its guardian and guide it so that the life that ever existed may return.”
